None at all. Tarot Academy is built for everyone, from someone who has never held a deck to someone who has been reading professionally for years. The curriculum starts from first principles and builds into territory that will challenge even experienced students. Wherever you're starting from, you'll be met there.
-
Tarot Academy is entirely online and video-based.
All course material lives on a dedicated page on the Tarot Academy website, accessible from any device.
There are no live sessions and no set schedule. You move through the curriculum entirely at your own pace. If the course is ever updated or expanded, that content is yours automatically at no extra cost.
-
That depends on you and how deeply you want to go. The core curriculum is 37+ hours of instruction, and most students move through it in 8 to 12 weeks studying a few hours per week.
But tarot is a practice, not just a subject. Many students find themselves revisiting lessons as their understanding deepens. There’s no deadline, and the course is yours for life.
-
Tarot Academy was built for everyone.
The complete beginner who has always been curious but never known where to start.
The experienced reader who wants to go deeper than other courses have taken them.
The spiritual seeker who reads for themselves and wants a richer relationship with the cards.
The aspiring professional who wants to build a tarot practice that lasts.
Wherever you are in your journey, the curriculum was created to meet you there and take you further.
-
A device with an internet connection and a Rider Waite Smith tarot deck without annotations.
The RWS is the most widely studied deck and the one the curriculum is built around. If you already own a different deck, you can still take the course, but the RWS is strongly recommended as your primary learning deck.
-
When you enroll, you’ll create an account on Tarot Academy. All course material is accessible through your account panel at tarotacademy.co/account.
You can log in from any device at any time.
-
Yes. Your access to Tarot Academy is lifetime. Every future update, new lesson, or addition to the curriculum is yours automatically at no extra cost, for as long as Tarot Academy exists.

Certification is a separate program for students who want to take this all the way. It's six weeks of weekly one-on-one sessions with Patrick, and it ends in a three-part final exam: written, oral, and three real readings with volunteers. Pass, and you earn a formal diploma as a Certified Tarot Practitioner.
It's $3,000, and it requires the Tarot Academy course first, since the course is the foundation certification builds on. Cohorts are small and run just a few times a year.
It's not open for applications at the moment, but the next cohort will be. Join the waitlist and you'll be first to know when it opens.
