What an absolutely gorgeous card, right?

All of the Queens are embodiments of their internal world — their inner authority and sovereignty. But what does that mean, exactly? It means that they are who they are, and they do what they do, because they hold space for what truly matters to them.

Unlike the Kings (who owe responsibility to the outside world via actions and decisions), the Queens stand firm in themselves. They are the living example of what it means to resonate so deeply with an energy that it changes the environment without any real effort at all.

So when we talk about the Queen of Pentacles, we’re talking about a person who is so embodied in their practical, material competence that abundance flourishes all around her. She tends to herself, to her garden, and to nature because she understands she is a part of nature. Her home — and her body — is its own diverse ecosystem that she honors and uplifts through each of the seasons. She loves herself and her surroundings so fully and deeply, that she sets the example of what it means to be grounded, present, and generous without forcing it.

She’s Major Earth Goddess Energy!

But all right, all right … in a practical sense, she’s a person who has reached a certain level of maturity. She’s learned that instead of needing to generate all of this energy and action in the external, she can instead create an environment where abundance flourishes naturally. Do you see the difference?

Her nature is abundant because she’s created abundance within herself. Her home is beautiful and restorative. Her body is well-nourished and rested. Her daily habits, however small, are rituals that uplift her. Her wellness radiates deliciously, practically, and with the utmost care. She is present with herself, and therefore she can be present with the world.

The unglamorous part is that it takes work to become the Queen of Pentacles. All of the Pentacles are pragmatic in that way: it takes sustained effort to grow something lasting. But on the other side of that experience is a garden that always provides.

So this weekend, I’d like for you to really think about what it is you tend to. What routines do you invest your time, energy, and attention towards? And what does it produce?

If you’d like a journal prompt, take this one:

  • What would the Queen of Pentacles think if she spent a day in your life? What would she tend more carefully? What would she appreciate?

And as always, if you’re ready to learn tarot, then I invite you to enroll in Tarot Academy. It’s an online, digital course I created for folks just like you.
